Licensee & Lead Organizer

Ming-Chun Hsieh is the Licensee and Lead Organizer of TEDxNangan. Ming-Chun approaches the making of a TEDx event as a form of intergenerational knowledge infrastructure, not as a way to preserve a fixed set of answers for an island, but as a system through which local knowledge can be inherited, questioned, reinterpreted and transformed into public expression.

Architectural training shapes Ming-Chun’s approach to education: reading how an organization works through structure, understanding the relationship between people and place across different scales, and designing how talent can enter, grow and pass experience forward through movement and boundaries. In this view, education does not take place only in a classroom. A space can become a curriculum, an organization can become a structure for learning, and a place can become an environment in which the next generation develops perspectives of its own.

Beyond TEDxNangan, Ming-Chun co-directs the Mei Stone Translatio Scheme in Matsu, where the idea of “Reproductive Placemaking” is explored through practice. enabling places not only to be preserved or occupied, but to continue generating talent, knowledge and new social relationships. This place-based practice informs Ming-Chun’s work at TEDxNangan, while the two remain independent in their organizational purposes.

At TEDxNangan, Ming-Chun translates long-term vision into workable structures for leadership, collaboration and learning. The work supports students and young people in beginning from where they stand, reading their place, forming ideas that can be examined, and bringing island experience into dialogue with the world. The concern is not only how one event comes into being, but how local knowledge can continue to grow in the hands of the next generation.
