Adventures

Where the Method Meets the Ground
Adventures are the on-site version of the four-step method described on our About page. The main stage happens once a year, but reading the place and identifying the question require returning to real sites again and again. Each Adventure chooses a site where this island is actually changing, an exhibition, a studio, a stretch of street and lets participants practice asking questions in front of the work and the people before they bring those questions back to the annual theme.
Who Curates Adventures
Chiang, Lin (Curator & Strategy Lead) selects the theme, site and dialogue structure of each Adventure and hosts on site. His job is not to summarize the artists; it is to keep the questions honest. Ming-Chun Hsieh (Licensee & Lead Organizer) designs the participation format and learning journey, so that every gathering doubles as practice in forming a point of view for local students and young people. Their shared background in architecture and place-based cultural practice is why Adventures always begin with a space, not a topic.
The Venue
Every Adventure takes place at a site where this island is actually changing: an exhibition space, a studio, a heritage building, a stretch of street. Venues are chosen for the question they make possible, not for convenience. Each venue supports the Adventure as a site only and takes no part in programming; the curatorial team sets the theme, the guests and the structure of dialogue. Where a venue is connected to a member of our team, that relationship is stated on the event page.
Adventures No.01 took place at Meishi Yijing, an international art residency in the Meishi settlement on Nangan that translates Cold War–era military buildings into a platform for contemporary art. Venue details for each Adventure are listed on its own event page.
